For openers with green learn buttons. Newer purple-button openers need the 373LM; older red-button openers use the 973LM. Each button can be programmed independently for separate doors or for door-open/light-control on a single opener.

Programming the 83LM

Each button pairs independently. Repeat once per button to control up to three openers from one remote.

  1. Press the green learn button on the back of the opener's motor unit. The indicator light stays on for 30 seconds.
  2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold one button on the 83LM until the motor light blinks twice.
  3. Repeat at each subsequent opener using a different button.

Sears Craftsman 139.x logic boards use the same green-button protocol — find your model number on the logic board on the back of the motor.
